There is a new search engine in town : Ninja Google

Apparently there is a new search engine on the web. It is called ‘Ninja Google’. Ninja Google has a dead simple all black front page with a search text field in the middle. It is not a new search engine per say. It uses Google custom search to perform the search.

Ninja Google is a clever use of Google Custom Search Engine to give a personalize search result. I used Ninja Google to search for ‘zfranciscus’ ninja google specifically crawl through this blog ‘zfranciscus.wordpress.com’ and return each article that I wrote in this blog. On the other hand Google Search for zfranciscus return result from Ubuntu forums, twitter, stackoverflow, and some other websites where I participate for dicussion.

Google Ninja definitely gives a narrower and more focused search result compare to Google Search. The four link at the bottom of the search text field,’Ninja’, ‘The Ninja Test’,’3 Foot Ninja’,’Ask a Ninja’ are all linked to Google Ad. This is a clever way to set a personalized advertisement medium around ‘Ninja’. Some of these links bring us to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’ !

Ninja Google definitely show case the potential of Google Custom Search to provide a more personalized search result. I wonder whether Google themselves setup Ninja Google to showcase Google Custom Search Engine great features.

This is very cool. I’m surprised that this doesn’t violate Google’s ToS.
